Purpose
The Pike Township Youth Wrestling Program will promote good study habits and teach the sport of wrestling to young athletes. Coaches will teach basic skills and strategies used in this ancient sport. The planned activities include: tumbling, obstacle course drills, and organized games. Athletes will also learn the basics of wrestling.
Goal
The goal of the youth wrestling club is aligned with fitness standards and designed to develop individuals who are proficient at movement and who can use physical activity to: Maintain or develop fitness, Develop skills for sport and recreation, Use movement for selfexpression, enjoyment, challenge, and social interaction. This wrestling club promotes lifelong physical activity.
August - October Practices will be held every Monday and Wednesday at Pike High School in the wrestling room from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. These sessions are open to all athletes in grades K through 8th, both boys and girls.
The club registration fee is $35 per month per athlete, and a new $35 registration fee is required each month to participate.
Student Athletes should wear proper attire. Gym shorts and shirts. Shirts should be tucked in. If possible, Wrestling shoes are great, not a must.
